C.I.R.A. CENTRO ITALIANO RICERCHE AEROSPAZIALI SCPA
C.I.R.A. is a not-for-profit shareholding research entity founded in July 1984. CIRA operates according to the guidelines provided by the Italian Ministry of University and Research. The Italian government has entrusted CIRA to manage the PRORA (Italian Aerospace Research Program) and support the aerospace community with facilities and proper skills. Staffed by more than 350 people (more than 250 researchers), CIRA has a broad experience in contributing and coordinating European projects.
In the project, CIRA leads the WP concerning the management of the mission performed by the swarm of drones. It leverages on the expertise of the following different laboratories: (i) “Systems Complexity Intelligence and Autonomy”, (ii) “Security of Systems and Infrastructures” , (iii) “Guide Navigation and Control” within the Safety and Security department, (iv) “Earth Observations and Applications” and (v) “Aviation technologies Integration” covering the needed competencies in: aviation technologies, surveillance and coverage mission paradigms, artificial intelligence techniques for swarm flight and mission, multiagent negotiation protocols, and proximal and remote sensing techniques. In details the laboratories will support the project with the following skills: (i) Multi-agent coordination and architectures; (ii) Multi-objective optimization problems; (iii) Artificial intelligence algorithms design and tuning, (iv) Simulation, (v) software development in MATLAB and python environment, (vi) sensing models and algorithms, (vii) evaluation.

DREAM INNOVATION SRL
Dream-Innovation SRL is a young SME mainly involved in the aeronautical field founded on 2013 bringing together a team of high skilled international experts from different European R&D institutions strongly focused in the aeronautical field. Dream-Innovation competencies regard studies, consulting, numerical analyses, calculations, simulations and experimental analyses, in different engineering fields (Structural Mechanics, Automation and Control, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Experimental Investigations, Software Design). Dream has several collaborations with the most important Italian and European Universities (such as POLITO, POLIMI, UNINA, SUN, UNISA, UNIROMA3, BOCHUM University, Imperial College, Institute de Mecanique de Fluides) Moreover, thanks to the participation to several CleanSky2 projects, Dream collaborates with the most important European research centers and aeronautical industries. Key strengths of Dream are represented by the high level skill of the people involved and the reduced number of people involved. These two aspects make our work productive and efficient.
Dream Innovation (Dream) can contribute to EAGLES by
1. Contributing to the definition of the requirements for Drone-carrier mission and the definition of its architecture design
2. Performing preliminary (low-, medium- and high-fidelity) CFD simulations for the evaluation of aerodynamic performance and flight mechanics
3. Contributing to the definition of the propulsion system
4. Developing reduced-order models and/or lumped-parameter models (low-order models) of the drone-carrier subsystems.
5. Validating tools and models.

Drone Geofencing
Founded in 2019 in Nîmes (France), DG develops a solution to supervise a fleet of drones from a control center. The drones perform their missions autonomously and the remote pilot, located in the control center, only take actions when the drone encounters a problem during the flight (“Fly Away”).
The architecture of our solution is composed of :
- A mission preparation software allowing to achieve the flight declarations, to configure the path shaping within the UAV and to set-up the UAV mission in a proprietary embedded system.
- A proprietary embedded system integrating a resilient high-speed data link module and a Machine Learning module to command the UAV in a short loop and to servoing the UAV’s on-board sensors
- A ground station allowing the remote pilot to supervise the flight of the UAVs fleet and to activate a pre-programmed flight sequence (emergency landing) in case of problem.
Our solution is using several breakthrough technologies in the fields of :
- Telecommunications. Our data link module must guarantee a resilient connection;
- Artificial intelligence, robotics and servoing. Our Machine Learning module must be able to pilot the drone in a short loop to replace the remote pilot in the flight and mission execution.

I&S PARTNERS
Created in 2012, I&S delivers business coaching and strategic consultancy to both European SMEs and public-private consortia within the frame of collaborative innovation projects.
I&S has been involved in several R&D collaborations and strategic alliances between companies (especially SMEs but also large groups or international organization such as CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, also one of the world's largest and most respected centres for scientific research) for more than 15 years.
The company shows seasoned experience in maintaining research and innovation consortia and assisting companies (mainly SMEs) through both business coaching and strategic consultancy to transition their project from R&D to innovation & business projects, with a focus on setting plans to exploit the project outcomes and define exploitation strategies (through strategic partnerships, intellectual property, and other replication activities).
I&S Partners’s expertise matches its main role and tasks in the proposal focused on the maintenance of the consortium throughout the project, ensuring the liaison with the end-users and major project stakeholders as well as contributing to setting up an exploitation and dissemination plan of the project results under the principle "as open as possible, as closed as necessary".
